Artist Statement

My designs combine graceful clean lines with intricate detail to create a layered effect. Along with the layers, I want to convey contemporary times and tastes while also linking to historic and futuristic influences. I will often translate something from nature into an abstract version that will relate to both an organic theme and geometric playfulness.

When stones are involved, I look for the top grade in color and quality, and then develop the designs to enhance the stone's special character.

Using the lost wax method of casting, I connect precious metals with semi-precious and precious stones to create a sculpted look. Every piece is first made out of wax and then encased in plaster. The wax is melted out leaving a cavity that molten metal is cast into. After many steps of sanding, filing, buffing, and polishing, the stone is set. After a final polishing, it is presented for your enjoyment.
